Join Artist Sholo Beverly, students from Curt's Café, and Evanston Public Library for a mural unveiling!
Last summer the Evanston Public Library partnered with Fleetwood-Jourdain Theater, Northwestern University's Office of Neighborhood and Community Relations and through a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, brought 1619: The Journey of a People, A Musical to the community. EPL offered programs that included, A Conversation with the Cast, The Black Arts Movements - Resistance Rebellion and Revolution, and Artist Talk with Sholo Beverly. The mural is the final program in the project. Led by Sholo Beverly, students from Curt's Café developed individual pieces that represented their challenges, goals, hopes, dreams and plans for the future. Sholo used her artistic talents to turn those individual pieces into a mural. The piece is an artistic expression of "the journey" of students from Curt's Café.
