Safari Storytime with Kipelian Olesisian

2:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Main Library

Description

Join Maasai community activist and safari leader Kipelian Olesisian for a special reading of We All Went on Safari: A Counting Journey through Tanzania by Laurie Krebs.

Kipelian will teach us to name safari animals and to count from 1 to 10 in Swahili.  He will also teach us to sing "Jambo Bwana," a Swahili song!  After the story and song, he will answer questions from the audience.

Kipelian grew up in a village known as Oltukai Village in Tanzania. His childhood was filled with a passion for wildlife and nature. He now is a leader in his community, where he started the first pre-school in his village. He also runs his own business, KipeAdventures, which teaches tourists about wildlife and Maasai culture.
